Winter Concert 2008
“I Am Beautiful, America”
featuring Bruce Henry and his band
Saturday, February 2, 2007 at 7:30 p.m.
Central Presbyterian Church
500 Cedar Street, downtown St. Paul
(Map)
The performance, in collaboration with Bruce Henry and his band, focuses on the beauty (trust, intelligence, courage, judgment) found in all Americans as we respond musically to this historic year: an African-American and a woman are seeking the Presidency and it is the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s assassination and Black History Month. Expect two newly commissioned pieces, one by Bruce Henry and the other by Joan Griffith and Ann Reed. Also joining us with some solo performances will be Aimee K. Bryant, a multidisciplinary artist with a strong foundation in theatre. She is a founding ensemble member of Congo Square Theatre in Chicago, Illinois, and a graduate of Howard University. Recent theatre credits include Two Queens, One Castle with Mixed Blood Theatre, Seussical the Musical at the Children's Theatre Company, and Ain't Misbehavin? at Penumbra. Aimee has also released her long awaited debut cd Becoming recently, which is available at www.aimeekbryant.com as well as at local music stores.
Advance ticket prices: $20 for adults, $17 for students (12 and older) and seniors. Children 11 and under are free but need a ticket.
Tickets will also be available at the door for $25 each.
Tickets can be purchased by phone at 612-333-TCWC or by email at sing@twincitieswomenschoir.org.
